Model Building Series: SU-27 (part 1)

In this post I’d like to present my progress on a Sukhoi SU-27 (Nato Code “Flanker”) in 1:72 scale by Italerie.

The model kit is based on the Italerie 0197 set as linked below:

As usual I had to start with the Cockpit first. As there were no high quality decals in the kit, I decided to hand paint all details using a 0/3 paintbrush…

An empty cockpit seemed to be too lonely…
The pilot just after painting the camouflage pants and black gloves..
Now the cockpit felt much better…
The Cockpit took quite some time, therefore I was happy to get started with the plane assembly…
Painting the headup display was pure fun!
Good bye pilot, see you again after several hours of airbrush and paint work…
I love to use liquid mask by Vallejo for this purpose, see link below:

After cleaning, filling and sanding the base coat was applied using surface primer in white (Link)
The SU27 after the top surface “preshading procedure” (1000 shades of black) using “nato black” airbrush color (Link)
The final step for part 1 using “white” airbrush color (Link) with a fine paintbrush (1) to gain some “highlights”
